The paper On the Benefits of Reprofiling - The Multiple Hops Case–Part II co-authored with my student Jiaming Qiu is now on arXiv
The paper wraps-up Jiaming’s thesis that explored when and how changing flows’ (deterministic) profiles can help multi-hop packet networks guarantee deadlines more efficiently (with less bandwidth). The paper is Part II of a two-part sequence, with its prequel, On the Benefits of Reprofiling - The Multiple Hops Case–Part I having been published in the August 2024 issue of the (then) IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking.
This Part II extends the investigation of Part I to FIFO and static priority schedulers for which it also develops effective reprofiling solutions.
The work was supported by NSF grant CNS-2006530.
