- March 2026: Upgrade speeding-up GEOS-Chem is now officially available

Our load-balancing upgrade to GEOS-Chem is now officially available in the “Mergeable at any time” section of the GEOS-Chem model development priorities page, and should normally be incorporated in the 14.7.1 release.
This modification of GEOS-Chem’s default load distribution solution can improve GEOS-Chem’s overall runtime by more than 20% in most configurations and by over 40% in high-resolution configurations.
This is work done by Daisy Wang and Jordan Sun in collaboration with Kunal Agrawal (WashU), Seb Eastham (Imperial College), and myself, and with assistance from Randall Martin (WashU). A report describing the work is being finalized for eventual publication.
