Conclusions

• QoS routing is more expensive, but

  • Added cost is containable
  • Many knobs are available to tune it (if needed!)
  • It does offer performance (and functionality) benefits

• Other factor (forwarding, signalling) are more likely to be the show-stoppers

• Extensions

  • Multi-area solution (aggregation)
  • Combined solution for traffic engineering and on-demand routing
