More on Randomization

• Performance of randomization depends on:

  • Availability of alternate paths in the network topology
  • Relative load between primary and alternate paths, i.e. traffic pattern
  • Whether primary and alternate paths are link disjoint

e.g., randomization is not very effective in a mesh network
